CREST Expands Global Cyber Capacity with DFAT-Funded Next Phase of CREST CAMP
Latest cohort to elevate cyber security growth in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
CREST is expanding its Cyber Accelerated Maturity Programme (CREST CAMP) with funding from the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Running from March to June 2025, this latest expansion will accelerate cyber security maturity and reinforce the private sector’s pivotal role in national security across Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
As a global not-for-profit, CREST is committed to advancing the professionalisation and growth of the cyber security service industry worldwide. Now in its third cohort, CREST CAMP focuses on fast-tracking the development of cyber security companies in regions where cyber resilience is still evolving. With DFAT’s support, this initiative will help service providers enhance their capabilities, meet international standards, and strengthen national security frameworks, reflecting CREST’s dedication to global capacity building and cyber resilience for all.
Strengthening Private Sector Involvement in Cyber Security
CREST CAMP directly addresses the global challenge of critical infrastructure and public services relying on private sector cyber security service providers that have yet to reach internationally recognised maturity levels. It provides intensive mentoring and training to local companies, helping them enhance their capabilities. By guiding the companies towards CREST’s published standards for service providers and CREST Pathway and Pathway+ status, the programme empowers them to expand their service capabilities, achieve international recognition, and meet growing market demands.
DFAT’s investment in CREST CAMP underscores Australia’s commitment to strengthening global cyber security partnerships. The programme will be delivered in close collaboration with national cyber security authorities in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, ensuring alignment with regional priorities and sustainable impact.
A Collaborative Approach to Cyber Security Growth
The programme brings together national cyber security authorities, CREST-accredited member companies, training providers, and academic institutions to create a collaborative approach to cyber-capacity building.
Participants will receive intensive mentoring from CREST’s global network of 430+ accredited companies, providing in-country guidance on best practices, technical skills development, and business strategies.
Additionally, the funding will support selected training organisations in Thailand, enabling them to deliver CREST-aligned practitioner courses at locally affordable prices.
For CREST member companies, mentoring through CREST CAMP is an opportunity to shape the global cyber security ecosystem, establish long-term partnerships, and support emerging markets in strengthening their cyber defences.
Nigel Phair, CREST Australasia Chair, said:
“CREST CAMP is a crucial step in our mission to support cyber security companies as they professionalise and expand. Now more than ever, structured guidance and mentorship are essential for strengthening global cyber capacity. We are grateful to DFAT for recognising the private sector’s role in national security and supporting this initiative.
“CREST member companies bring valuable expertise to this programme, offering mentorship and practical insights that will help raise cyber security standards across the region. In today’s highly connected digital landscape, international collaboration is key to building stronger, more resilient cyber ecosystems.”
This DFAT-funded CREST CAMP cohort builds on previous programmes funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (ERBD). It reinforces CREST’s ongoing commitment to working with international cyber security capacity-building donors to develop local cyber security industry service providers around the globe.
