Bournemouth University (BU) is an innovative, international university offering high quality student experience, research and professional practice.  The university was founded in 1992 as one of the ‘new universities’, but its predecessor institution dates back to the early 1990s.

The Department of Computing & Informatics offers a strong portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programes, all of which are informed by our academic research.  Our research spans several areas, including cyber security and HCI. Academics within the department have a track record in conducting interdisciplinary research. Current externally funded examples of such research include a NERC funded project on software design for 3D capture of footprint evidence, and Dstl-funded research on designing security for risk-based decision making.
