CREST Singapore was launched in July 2016. It was formed as a joint partnership with the Association of Information Security Professionals (AISP), a local body for information security professionals, with the support of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA). This initiative was developed in collaboration with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).
CREST’s Penetration Testing exams will be delivered through a local examination test centre that is located at the Singaporean Institute of Technology. The exams that will be launched initially include
CREST Practitioner Security Analyst (CPSA)
CREST Registered Tester (CRT)
CREST Certified Tester Application (CCT-APP)
CREST Certified Tester Infrastructure (CCT-INF)
CREST has a range of certifications that include Penetration Testing, Incident Response, Malware Analysis and wider Information Security Architecture. These examinations will be rolled out in Singapore in a phased manner over an 18 month timeline.
CREST is the only organisation that operates internationally to accredit companies and certify individuals. CREST is focused on building capability, capacity and consistency in the global technical security industry. The certification and accreditation programs will offer transparent and open standards that serve as a competency baseline for practicing professionals and service providers in Singapore. In the UK, Australia, and the Americas CREST certifications are already the prevailing industry standards for penetration testing and incident response services and are supported by the respective Governments. By introducing the certification in Singapore, the aim is to help grow local skills and capabilities and provide assurance for professionals and service providers that perform penetration tests.
